Ashley Andrews took over as Tennessee's Director of Softball Operations in August of 2016 after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Washington.
Andrews was a former captain and four-year starter for the Volunteers from 2009-12. Her job duties will include the coordination, planning and execution of the program's day-to-day activities as well as coordinating team travel plans and meals, and supervising the team's managers.
"We are thrilled about Ashley's return to Tennessee softball," co-head coach Karen Weekly said. "As a player and graduate assistant Ashley's passion for the Volunteer program was on display every day.
"Her work ethic and organizational skills are exceptional, and the experience gained as an assistant coach at Washington the past two years will be invaluable as she takes on this new role."
During Andrews' time with the Huskies, the program made back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the NCAA Super Regionals last season. In her first season as an assistant coach in 2015, Washington posted one of the best power-hitting seasons in program history. The Huskies hit a program-record 86 home runs and posted a program-record .582 slugging percentage while also setting records in runs scored (460), RBIs (418), walks (269) and on-base percentage (.445).
As a player at Tennessee, Andrews helped the Big Orange reach the Women's College World Series twice (2010 & 2012) and the NCAA Tournament four times. The Olympia, Wash., native started 233 games over her four seasons while recording 130 hits and scoring 107 runs.
Prior to her time at Washington, Andrews completed her master's degree in Sports Psychology at UT while serving as a graduate assistant under the Weekly's for two seasons. She also earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Tennessee in 2012.
