The Tennessee baseball team's 2005 recruiting class was recognized yet again when Baseball America ranked the Vols' crop of newcomers among its Dandy Dozen this week. The publication listed Tennessee's recruiting class as the sixth-best in the nation.
The Volunteers' 18 newcomers include six players who were previously drafted, including pitcher Josh Lindblom, who was Houston's third-round selection this past June. The West Lafayette, Ind., native was the highest-drafted player to attend a Division I school.
Other players listed by Baseball America as having the potential to immediately impact UT's success were freshman shortstop Tony Delmonico, right-handed pitchers Deunte Heath and Ty Pryor as well as sophomore outfielder Brian Van Kirk.
Tennessee was one of six Southeastern Conference teams to be included in Baseball America's 2005 Dandy Dozen.
The Vols' 2005 recruiting class had previously been recognized as the sixth-best in the country by Collegiate Baseball newspaper last month.
