Despite a slow start, the Tennessee men's swimming and diving team pulled out a victory Friday against the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington 163.5-129.5.
"We really didn't get going until later in the meet," head coach John Trembley said. "But it was a good win."
The team of Storvik, Kahlin, Houchin, and Dabney earned the Vols' first win in the 400 medley relay.
Jonas Perrson also energized the team with a win in the 200 yard freestyle. Nolan Morrell (100 backstroke) and Brad Craig (100 breaststroke) added wins to give the Vols momentum.
Perrson and Craig each contributed another win for UT. Perrson won the 100 freestyle and Craig finished first in the 200 breaststroke.
Anders Storvik gained his first career win as a Tennessee Volunteer in the 200 backstroke.
Sophomore All-America Michael DeRocco won his first event of the season in the 100 butterfly.
Ryan Helms continued his success, sweeping the diving competition. Michael Muscari and Brent Sterling rounded out the top of the leader board in second and third, respectively.
The Vols return to Knoxville and prepare to host 12th ranked Virginia Nov. 6.
"Despite national rankings," Trembley said, "we will be underdogs when Virginia comes to town."
