As the Tennessee swimming and diving team prepares for the NCAA championships, two Vols have earned international accolades for their successes.
Redshirt freshman Ryan Harrison, of Londonberry, Northern Ireland, set three Irish national records at the Austin Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. The preliminary events Harrison competed in were in yards while the finals were in long course meters. His prelim results were 4:20.46 in the 500 yard freestyle, 1:35.51 in the 200 yard freestyle and 44.06 in the 100 freestyle. His final results were 3:55.97 in the 400 meter freestyle, 1:49.71 in the 200 meter freestyle and 50.29 in the 100 meter freestyle. All three metric finals' times are Irish national records.
Harrison's times qualify him for the World University Games held in Belgrade, Serbia and the World Championship Games in Rome.
Sophomore Mattias Kahlin was named to the World University Games team for his native Sweden. Kahlin posted three regular season wins this season and also ranks on UT's top times list in the 100 and 200 breaststroke as well as the 400 medley relay. Kahlin is from Västerås, Sweden.
