Postgame Notes: Lady Vols 79, Miami 67

THE SERIES
With today's 79-67 victory, the Lady Vols lead the series over Miami, 2-0. The win ended a 41-game home-court winning streak for the Canes as UT handed Miami its first loss of the season.
FOR STARTERS
Today's starters: freshman Bashaara Graves, sophomore Cierra Burdick, sophomore Isabelle Harrison, junior Meighan Simmons and freshman Andraya Carter. Carter, Burdick, Harrison and Simmons have started every game this season, while Graves has started the last three.
Meighan Simmons was the first to score for the Lady Vols with a 3-pointer.
Sophomore point guard Ariel Massengale was the first substitution in for Tennessee.
SPINNING THE HURRICANES
Tennessee recorded its second win over a top-25 ranked opponent this season as the Lady Vols also downed No. 20 Georgia Tech, 71-54 on Nov. 11. Freshmen duo of Andraya Carter and Bashaara Graves led the Lady Vols in scoring as Carter totaled 16 points and Graves had 20. They combined for a total of 36 of Tennessee's 79 points.
Carter and sophomore Ariel Massengale were perfect from the line as Massengale finished the game 10-of-10 and Carter was 4-of-4 in free throws.
Sophomore Cierra Burdick led the team with 10 rebounds, the only Lady Vol to grab double-digit boards.
Freshman Bashaara Graves is the only Lady Vol to score in double digits in all four games this season as she notched 14 at Chattanooga, 18 at Georgia Tech, 18 against Rice and 20 at Miami.
TENNESSEE HOLD 'EM
The Lady Vols' defense held Miami to shooting 20 percent from the field in the first half as the Canes were 7-35 from the field. Miami did not score a field goal until 15:03 in the first half.
At the end of the game, the Hurricanes were 22-of-69 from the field (31.9 percent)
OWNING THE PAINT
Tennessee tallied 22 points in the paint in the first 20 minutes of action, while the Canes only scored eight in the lane.CARTER RAINING THREES
Freshman Andraya Carter was a perfect 3-3 from the three-point line in the first half. Carter picked up another trey in her fourth attempt, and finished the game 4-of-5, as she recorded her first double-digit scoring game of the season with 16 points.
SIMMONS IN THE CHARTS
Junior Meighan Simmons' four 3-point attempts pushed her to a career total 370 attempts, moving her to sixth on the Lady Vol career charts in 3-point field goals attempted.TAKING CHARGE
Sophomore Ariel Massengale has taken a charge in back-to-back games as she took two charges against Miami, and recorded one against Rice.AT THE HALF
Freshman Andraya Carter led the Lady Vols in scoring with 11 points as she was a perfect 3-3 from the 3-point line. Her freshman teammate, Bashaara Graves added 10 points in the first 20 minutes of action. Sophomore center Isabelle Harrison snagged a team-leading six rebounds in the first half.
Tennessee tallied 22 points in the paint to Miami's eight in the first half, while also notching 12 points off the Canes' turnovers.
The Lady Vols garnered their largest lead at the half on the season (25 points) as they led 46-21 over Miami at the break.
The Lady Vols' defense held Miami to shooting 20 percent from the field in the first half as the Canes were 7-35 from the field.
