USA Women In Turkey For Exhibition Games

ISTANBUL, Turkey -- Two exhibition contests await the USA Basketball Women's National Team this weekend, as the squad plays Saturday and Sunday contests in Istanbul, Turkey, and tries to improve upon its 3-0 record in advance of the 2012 Olympic Games.
After defeating Brazil, 99-67, in Washington, D.C., on Monday and Great Britain, 88-63, on Wednesday, former Lady Vols Tamika Catchings and Candace Parker will help lead the American squad in contests vs. Croatia on Saturday and Turkey on Sunday. USA Basketball lists both games with 11 a.m. Eastern start times.
Catchings and Parker have started all three exhibition games for the U.S. National Team thus far. Catchings is averaging 11.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals per game, while Parker has produced 7.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest on a deep USA squad.
The former UT standouts have contributed to the USA holding a scoring margin of +31.7 and hitting at a .507 clip from the field in those three contests.
After this weekend's games, the Women's National Team will head to London, where it will practice on July 26 and 27 before opening Olympic competition vs. Croatia on July 28.
