POSTGAME NOTES
THE SERIES
- This marked the third meeting between the Big Orange and the Golden Eagles. Tennessee now holds a record of 3-0 against Oral Roberts.
- Tennessee has now opened the season 2-0 for the second straight season and fifth time in the past six years.
- In its prior two games, the Lady Vols have forced an average of 22.5 turnovers per contest. Tonight they forced 21.
- The contest marked the second of four successive home games to open the 2014-15 campaign.
IN THE FIRST TWO GAMES
- The largest win margins over the first two games in the regular season occurred in 1989-99 (+99) and 2005-06 (+92).
- With 188 points in their first two games, the Lady Vols have their most points in the first two games since the 2001-02 season, when they had 203 in the first two games.
- In their first game against Penn, the Lady Vols won by a margin of +45. Tonight, they won by +52.
FOR STARTERS
- Today's starters: Jordan Reynolds, Nia Moore, Jaime Nared, Bashaara Graves and Alexa Middleton.
- This is the second starting lineup for the Lady Vols. Nared joined the line up and made her starting debut.
- It is the first time that the Lady Vols started two true freshmen since a 90-37 win over Alcorn St. on Nov. 25, 2012.
- This is the first time that the Lady Vols have started two players from the state of Oregon, Jordan Reynolds and Jaime Nared. Both are from the city of Portland.
- Prior to this game, this lineup had 69 game starts with Graves owning 65 of those.
- Tennessee lost the tip for the second consecutive game. Last season, the Lady Vols had only lost the tip four times.
- The Lady Vols first score came off a three-pointer from Reynolds, her first points of the season. They went on to start with a 10-0 run.
OFF THE BENCH
- With the addition of Ariel Massengale and Andraya Carter, they were the first Lady Vols off the bench, in for Jaime Nared and Bashaara Graves.
- It was Massengale's first time back on the court since Jan. 23, 2014 when she sustained an injury against Florida.
- Freshman Kortney Dunbar was the next off the bench coming in for Alexa Middleton.
UPPERCLASSMEN RETURNS
- Senior Ariel Massengale made her return for the first time since Jan. 23, 2014. In her season debut, she contributed a team-high 21 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal. It was just the fourth time in her career that she has scored 20 or more points.
- Redshirt sophomore Andraya Carter scored eight points and had six steals and four rebounds and assists.
NIA WANTS MORE
- Nia Moore scored 20 points and added nine rebounds, four blocks and two steals.
- It was Moore's first time scoring 20-plus points in consecutive games.
- In Moore's second career start against Penn, she produced 24 points going 12-for-18 and had 14 rebounds, four blocks and three assists.
- In the first two games, Moore has a .636 shooting percentage and is averaging 22 points per game and 11.5 rebounds per game.
STIFLING DEFENSE
- In the first half, the Lady Vols limited Oral Roberts to a 20.6 shooting percentage. By the end of the game, Tennessee had limited the Golden Eagles to 25 percent on 15-of-60 shots.
- The Lady Vols forced 30 turnovers, which is the most since Alcorn St. who had 34 on Nov. 25, 2012.
- As a team, the Lady Vols racked up 21 steals. Jordan Reynolds led the group in steals with seven. The record for sophomore steals in a game is eight and is fourth overall for all classes.
- Nia Moore led in blocked shots once again with four.
ROOKIE PRODUCTION
- In her first career start, Jaime Nared score nine points and had six rebounds and four assists.
- Kortney Dunbar was 2-for-2 from beyond the arc and added 10 points along with an improved six rebounds.
- Alexa Middleton tallied six points, two rebounds, two assists and recorded a steal.
ANOTHER DOUBLE-DOUBLE
- Junior Bashaara Graves earned her second double-double of the season and 15th of her career with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
AT THE HALF
- Tennessee led 46-17 at the halfway point.
- This was the largest halftime lead, with 29 points, since the Lady Vols led Lipscomb, 62-29, on Dec. 29, 2013.
- Oral Roberts' 17 points are the eighth fewest points allowed in a first half by the Lady Vols.
- UT began the game on a 10-0 run.
- The Lady Vols were 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the first half.
- UT shot 48.7 percent (19-39) compared to Oral Roberts 20.6 percent (7-34) in the first 20 minutes of action.
- Nia Moore led all scorers with 12 points.
OUT OF THE LINEUP
- Both Isabelle Harrison and Jasmine Jones sat out due to injuries sustained in the first game against Penn.
- Ciera Burdick sat out her final game from team violations. She will make her season debut on Nov. 21 against Winthrop.
UP NEXT
- Tennessee returns to action against Winthrop on Nov. 21 and against Tennessee State on Nov. 24, all at 7 p.m. on SEC Network+ in Thompson-Boling Arena.
