POSTGAME NOTES
THE SERIES
- The teams met for the first time since March 9, 1974.
- The Lady Vols are 3-1 in the all-time series with the Eagles.
- The contest marked the third of four successive home games to open the 2014-15 campaign.
IN THE FIRST THREE GAMES
- The Lady Vols have outscored its first three opponents by an average score of 89.7-46.3 with a +130 point margin.
- Tennessee has shot and made at least five three-point shots in each of their first three games. Kortney Dunbar has made at least one each game.
- Jordan Reynolds has had at least five assists in each game.
- Nia Moore has scored in double digits each game. It's the first time in her career that she has done so consecutively.
- The Lady Vols have had at least three players score in double digits in each game.
FOR STARTERS
- Today's starters: Jordan Reynolds, Nia Moore, Jaime Nared, Bashaara Graves and Alexa Middleton.
- This is the second starting lineup for the Lady Vols and they are currently 2-0 with the five. Nared joined the starting line up against Oral Roberts.
- Prior to this game, this lineup had 74 game starts with Graves owning 66 of those.
- Tennessee won the tip for the first time this season.
- The Lady Vols first score came off a lay-up from Nia Moore after an under the basket pass from Bashaara Graves.
OFF THE BENCH
- Ariel Massengale and Andraya Carter were the first two off the bench in for Alexa Middleton and Jaime Nared.
- After serving her three game suspension, Cierra Burdick entered for the first time this season and took the spot of Nia Moore.
- Kortney Dunbar made her appearance with 7:32 left in the first half.
- The Lady Vols bench outscored Winthrop's 32-12.
TURNOVERS TO POINTS
- With 34 turnovers against Winthrop, the Lady Vols have forced at least 30 turnovers to back-to-back games for the first time since the 2006-07 season against Alabama (30, Jan. 28) and South Carolina (34, Feb. 1).
- The Lady Vols forced the most turnovers since Alcorn St. had 34 on Nov. 25, 2012.
- In the first half, the Lady Vols had scored 16 points off of turnovers. Winthrop scored two points on just five Lady Vol turnovers.
- The Lady Vols defense led to their first forced 10-second call. Andraya Carter and Jordan Reynolds were responsible for the pressure. They forced another 10-second call in the second half.
- In a span of 59 seconds in the second half, Tennessee forced five turnovers.
THREE CONSECUTIVE DOUBLE-DOUBLES
- Bashaara Graves was the second Lady Vol to double digits but was the first to earn a double-double. With 15 points and 10 rebounds, Graves earned her third back-to-back double-double. It is the 16th of her career.
SELFLESS PLAY
- In each of the first three games, Jordan Reynolds has tallied up at least five assists. She had 5 against Penn, 7 vs. Oral Roberts and 7 tonight against Winthrop.
SENIOR LEADERSHIP
- In her second game back, Ariel Massengale started off her scoring with five back to back three-point shots. She earned a new career high three-point shots with six. Her previous high was five, which she had against Ole Miss on Jan. 9, 2014.
- With 20 points, Massengale picked up her second game with 20+ points and fifth of her career. Her six three-point shots earned her a new career-high.
- Cierra Burdick accumulated 10 rebounds to match the team-high with Bashaara Graves. She added four assists. She also took a charge in the second half.
AT THE HALF
- Tennessee led 40-25 at the halfway point.
- Ariel Massengale shot five consecutive three-point shots and led all scorers with 15 points.
- UT shot 42.1 percent (16-38) compared to Winthrop's 35.7 percent (10-28) in the first 20 minutes of action.
- The Lady Vols outscored Winthrop in the paint 20-10 in the first half.
OUT OF THE LINEUP
- Both Isabelle Harrison and Jasmine Jones sat out due to injuries sustained against the first game against Penn.
UP NEXT
- Tennessee returns to action against against Tennessee State on Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. on SEC Network+ in Thompson-Boling Arena.
