POSTGAME NOTES
THE SERIES
- #6/9 Texas marked the first ranked opponent for the Lady Vols to see this year.
- Tennessee owns a 23-13 record in the all-time series with Texas. The Longhorns win broke a five-game win streak in the series for the Lady Vols.
- The game vs. the Longhorns improves Tennessee to 55-19 vs. teams from the Big 12 Conference.
- The loss marked the first time Tennessee (4-2) had lost in back-to-back games since falling to Baylor and Stanford in December of 2012.
FOR STARTERS
- Today's starters: Jordan Reynolds, Nia Moore, Jasmine Jones, Ariel Massengale and Bashaara Graves.
- This was the fourth starting lineup for the Lady Vols.
- Tennessee lost the tip for the fourth time this season.
- The Lady Vols first score came from a lay-up by Bashaara Graves.
- With 14:23 left in the first half, Ariel Massengale was the first Lady Vol to make a three point shot and gave UT their first lead of the game.
OFF THE BENCH
- Cierra Burdick was the first Lady Vol off the bench.
- Andraya Carter was the next UT player to get into action.
- Jaime Nared came in off the bench early on five minutes into the game.
- Alexa Middleton came into the game in the second half as they Lady Vols rallied.
LADY VOLS FOR THREE
- Ariel Massengale was the first Lady Vol to hit a shot beyond the arc.
- Burdick hit her first three-pointer of the season with under five minutes left in the first half. With it, she break an 0-6 streak.
- Reynolds shot her second third-pointer of the season early in the second half and had two in the game.
TAKING CHARGES
- Both Cierra Burdick and Jasmine Jones took charges against the Longhorns in their defensive efforts.
DOUBLE FIGURE SUCCESS
- Bashaara Graves, Andraya Carter, Jordan Reynolds and Jasmine Jones led the Lady Vols in scoring, all reaching double figure scoring.
- Graves earned her fourth double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. She earned 13 of her total points in the second half.
- Carter earned a season-high 13 points and tied her career-high rebounds with seven.
- Reynolds and Jones tallied up 10 points each.
LADY VOLS OUTREBOUNDED
- For the second time this season, Tennessee was outrebounded, 39-38. The Lady Vols had it happen first 42-37 against Tennessee State.
- It happened just three times all last season, Stanford (-3), Arkansas (-7) and Maryland (-2).
AT THE HALF
- The Lady Vols trailed the entire first half except for one possession. UT ended the half down by 10 with a score of 30-20.
- Jasmine Jones and Ariel Massengale led UT scorers with five points apiece.
- The Lady Vols were outrebounded 24-21.
- UT shot the lowest they have all season at the half, 24 percent (7-29) while Texas shot 39 percent (13-33)
- Both schools had nine turnovers. Texas scored 12 of its point off turnovers. UT had eight points from them.
OUT OF THE LINEUP
- Isabelle Harrison sat out due to an injury sustained in the first game against Penn.
UP NEXT
- Tennessee will return to Thompson-Boling Arena after a two-game road trip. They will take on Saint Francis (PA) on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. on SEC Network+.
