Blaase Takes Second in XC Again

LEXINGTON Tenn. -- Tennessee junior Chelsea Blaase recorded her second consecutive silver-place finish of the year Saturday at the Bluegrass Cross Country Invitational.
Blaase finished the 5K in 16 minutes, 44.40 seconds, to cross the finish line in second for the second consecutive weekend.
Austin Whitelaw was the top finisher for the Tennessee men, taking 20th in the 8K race in 24:51.39.
Tennessee finished sixth in the women's team standings and seventh in the men's race.
Five women ran in the orange and white Saturday. Alexis Panisse was UT's second scorer, placing 24th in 17:32.80. UT's additional scorers included: Amirah Johnson (38th, 18:15.60), Caroline Duer (56th (18:56.30) and Anna Jernigan (20:04.50).
In the men's competition, Whitelaw was followed by Jack Little (35th, 25:14.11), Kyle Walter (40th, 25:20.70), J.R. Creekmore (48th, 25:29.64) and Jeremy Dickie (26:37.82) in the scoring.
UT returns to competition Oct. 4 with the Louisville Classic in Louisville, Ky.
