POSTGAME NOTES
THE SERIES
- This is the second meeting between the two programs this season and 63rd meeting overall.
- Tennessee now has a 48-15 record in the series.
- UT 14-8 in games played in Athens.
- The Lady Vols have won the last eight match-ups with the Lady Bulldogs. They've won the last 16 of 17 games.
- Holly Warlick is now 4-0 vs. Georgia as a head coach.
- With the win over an unranked Georgia squad, the Lady Vols are 16-1 vs. unranked opponents.
- UT's seniors own a career record of 107-27 overall and 53-10 in SEC regular season play. They are 6-0 vs. Georgia, including 2-0 in Athens.
FOR STARTERS
- Today's starters: Bashaara Graves, Cierra Burdick, Jordan Reynolds, Andraya Carter, Ariel Massengale.
- Not one single Lady Vol has started every game this season. Reynolds has started in all but one game.
- With this group, Tennessee is 1-1.
- The jump ball was controlled by Tennessee.
- The first points were scored by Bashaara Graves with a lay-up.
OFF THE BENCH
- Alexa Middleton was the first Lady Vol in. She came in for Jordan Reynolds.
- Jaime Nared was next in for the Lady Vols.
- Nia Moore entered the game for the first time with 712:38 left in the first half.
A-MASS MOVES UP THE RECORD BOOKS
- Massengale moved up the list for three-point field goals made. She began the game with 142 and shot three tonight. She surpassed Taber Spani who had 143 for sole possession of the No. 8 spot in UT record books.
- She is within reach of the No. 7 position which is currently held by Shannon Bobbitt (2006-08) who had 147.
- Entering the game, Massengale needed eight assists to become the third Lady Vol to record 500 assists and 1,000 points in her career at UT.
- Tonight, Massengale dished out five assists and needs just three more to reach the feat.
DEFENSE HOLDS OFF LADY BULLDOGS
- Tennessee grabbed 29 defensive rebounds with Cierra Burdick leading the way with eight of those.
- After recording just two steals vs. South Carolina, UT had seven with Cierra Burdick tallying four of those. The four steals by Burdick also marked a career-high.
- Two of UGA's shots were blocked and 14 points were scored off turnovers.
- Cierra Burdick drew her eighth charge of the season with just over a minute to play.
OFFENSIVELY SPEAKING
- The 54.3 shooting percentage by the Lady Vols marks the third best field goal percentage of the season.
- In the first half, the Lady Vols went on their 28th run of 10-0.
- Nia Moore scored eight points and was 4-for-4. She produced six points in two of the last three games and six vs. Alabama. She had scored eight combined in her previous 10 games before Bama.
- Cierra Burdick notched a game-high 18 points for her fourth consecutive game with 10-plus points. With 10 rebounds she also carded her sixth double-double of the season and her first back-to-back double-double games since St. Francis (12/3/14) and Lipscomb (12/7/15).
- Burdick is 17 points from reaching 1,000 career points at Tennessee.
- Jordan Reynolds made her first trey for the first time since the game vs. Florida. She tallied eight points along with six rebounds and two assists.
- Massengale was the second leading scorer with 17 points, including three treys. She dished out five assists and had two rebounds and a steal.
UT-UGA CONNECTIONS
- Tennessee freshman Alexa Middleton and injured Georgia junior Shacobia Barbee are both alums of Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Riverdale High School.
- UGA junior guard Marjorie Butler is from Knoxville and hails from the same high school (Webb School) that produced Tennessee alum Glory Johnson.
AT THE HALF
- The Lady Vols trailed the Lady Bulldogs 39-27.
- Tennessee shot a season-high 66.7 percent (16-24) while Georgia shot 35.5 percent (11-31).
- The Lady Vols led in points in the paint, 14-12 and outscored UGA's bench 9-5.
- Tennessee outrebounded the Lady Bulldogs 17-13.
- Cierra Burdick led all scorers with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
- By halftime, Ariel Massengale was 2-for-3 from beyond the arc moving her into sole possession of the No. 8 spot in career three-point field goals made in UT history. She surpassed Taber Spani (2009-13) who had 143.
UP NEXT
- The Lady Vols return home for their final home game of the regular season on Sunday, March 1 at 5 p.m. on SEC Network. Tennessee will celebrate the careers of its three seniors: Isabelle Harrison, Cierra Burdick and Ariel Massengale for senior day.
