Volleyball Swept at Arkansas, 3-0

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The Tennessee Volunteers finished their road SEC weekend Sunday with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-20) loss to Arkansas at Barnhill Arena.
Freshman Sedona Hansen recorded her 14th double-double of the season with 31 assists and 10 digs to lead the Vols (15-12, 5-9 SEC). Danielle Harbin paced the Razorbacks (6-20, 4-10) with 17 kills and two aces.
Freshman Tessa Grubbs had 10 kills and senior Raina Hembry added nine in the loss.
In the first set, the Vols built an 18-13 lead on a kill by Kendra Turner, but Arkansas got back in the match by winning eight of the next 10 points to take a 21-20 lead. Tennessee came back to tie the match 23-23, but Arkansas won the next two points, ending the set on a solo block by Savannah Voelzke on the right side.
Arkansas led the second set 18-13, but the Vols won seven of nine points to tie the match 20-20 on a kill by Raina Hembry. With the score tied 22-22, Danielle Harbin recorded three consecutive kills for Arkansas as the Razorbacks took the set 25-22.
Arkansas used a 5-0 run to take an 18-8 lead in the third set. The Vols answered by winning eight of the next 10 points to cut the lead to 20-16. The Vols got no closer than four points within the Razorbacks, saving two match points before Arkansas eventually sealed the match 25-20 on a kill by Voelzke.
On the defensive side, Arkansas out-blocked Tennessee 14 to 7 and out-dug the Vols 44 to 36.
NOTES
- Tennessee starters: Sedona Hansen, Raina Hembry, Erica Treiber, Tessa Grubbs, Kanisha Jimenez, Asha Phillips and Brooke Schumacher at libero. It was the first career start for Phillips, becoming the Vols' fourth freshman to make a start this year (Hansen, Grubbs, Andreno).
- Sedona Hansen has now recorded 14 double-doubles at setter this season (assists, digs), nine of them coming in SEC play.
UP NEXT
- The Vols return home for a full week at Thompson-Boling Arena, hosting Texas A&M on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Eastern and LSU on Sunday at 4 p.m.
- Texas A&M won the first meeting of the year 3-0 in College State on Nov. 6. This will be the Vols' first match against LSU this year.
