NASHVILLE -- The No. 22 Tennessee volleyball team continued its unbeaten start to the season, sweeping No. 21 Indiana (25-23, 25-23, 25-16) at Bridgestone Arena as part of the Broadway Block Party.

The win was Tennessee's fifth straight sweep to begin the season. The victory marks the third time in program history that the Lady Vols have begun the season with five consecutive sweeps, with it last occurring in 2010.

The Lady Vols (5-0) had 39 kills on a .245 hitting percentage in the win. Kennedi Rogers led the offensive effort once again, putting up 19 kills for her fourth double-digit kills performance to begin the season. Tennessee assisted 37 of its 39 kills in the contest, with Caroline Kerr posting a 32 to lead the way. Kerr added a team-high 10 digs to give the fifth year setter the 25th of her career and tying her for ninth in program history.

Tennessee's block defense was relentless throughout with a season-high 13. Chelsea Sutton and Jolene Oddo tied for the team lead with five, followed by the duo of Rogers and Maggie Dostic with three each. Indiana (2-2) was held in check, finishing with 36 kills on a .179 hitting percentage.

Tennessee fell behind early in the first set, but a 5-0 run leveled the scoring at 17 apiece. Both teams traded points, before back-to-back kills by Jalyn Stout and Rogers gave the Big Orange a 23-21 advantage. A service error by Indiana would seal the first-set victory and give Tennessee the early set lead. Rogers logged six kills in the first frame, doing so on a solid .417 hitting percentage. Tennessee had five blocks in the opening set, with Sutton and Dostic tallying two each.

It was a similar start to the second set, as Indiana would take the early lead. Tennessee would once again battle back, with a 7-1 run to give the Lady Vols the lead late. The Lady Vols would withstand a late charge by Indiana, to take the two set advantage. The Tennessee attack keyed the second set victory, with 13 kills on .290 hitting. Rogers and Sutton led the charge for Tennessee in the second, posting seven and four kills respectively.

It was all Tennessee in the third set, dominating in all phases of the game to close the match and secure the win. Offensively, Tennessee logged another 13 kills thanks to 11 assists in the set. The Big Orange had a huge lift from behind the service line in the third, with Dostic posting two of the team's three aces. The defensive effort was the catalyst for the third set win, with 14 digs and another five blocks. Indiana's offense was quieted in the final set, held to just 10 kills on a .125 hitting percentage.

Up next, the Lady Vols return to the court on Wednesday, Sept. 9, for their second consecutive match against a ranked opponent, facing No. 2 Pitt in the Showdown at the Net at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Florida. First serve is slated for 6:30 p.m. ET., with the match televised on ESPN2.
