Tennessee Soccer Spring Schedule Announced

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee soccer will play seven spring matches in 2017, three of which will be against teams that finished ranked in the top 12 in the nation last season.
Three of the seven games will be held at Regal Soccer Stadium in Knoxville. Those games will be free and open to the public.
The Volunteers open their spring slate on Sunday, March 5 in Atlanta against Division II power Columbus State. The Cougars finished last season with a 21-3 record and advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Division II tournament.
UT follows that up with a matchup against the Carolina Courage of the NWSL in Charlotte, N.C., on Saturday, March 25.
The Big Orange hit the road for a pair of games in Clemson, S.C., on Saturday, April 1. The Vols will take on a pair of NCAA tournament teams in ACC power Clemson and SEC rival Florida. Both the Tigers and Gators finished last season ranked in the top 12 nationally.
Tennessee plays its first home game the next weekend for a matchup with Cincinnati on Sunday, April 9. The Bearcats went 11-5-4 last year and were one of the top teams in the American Athletic Conference.
The Vols wrap up their spring season with a pair of home games on Saturday, April 22. UT will open the day with a showdown against last year's national runner-up, West Virginia, at 11 a.m., and finish the afternoon with a matchup against Wake Forest at 4 p.m. The Mountaineers won the Big 12 in 2016 and finished the year ranked No. 2 in the country after falling to USC in the national championship game.
