McGiffin, Kuczer Perfect in Day Two of Music City Scramble

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Senior Tenika McGiffin and junior Daria Kuczer were perfect in day two of the Music City Scramble.

"We came here to get some good tennis in and that's exactly what happened today," head coach Alison Ojeda said. "We competed well against Ole Miss this morning, but as a whole, they played better than us. What I'm happy about as a coach is that we learned quickly and turned it around this afternoon. That is a sign of maturity and something we can be proud of. We are looking forward to another tough day of competition tomorrow."

McGiffin, hailing from Brisbane, Australia, inked her first solo win of the fall over Elysia Pool of Ole Miss, 6-4, 6-1. The senior followed with a hard-fought 7-6(3), 7-6(5) conquest over Auburn's Yu Chen.

Kuczer, a transfer via Pepperdine, recorded the first two singles victories of her career as a Lady Vol. She opened with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Kelsey Mize of Ole Miss and followed with a 7-5, 6-4 triumph over Auburn's Gerogie Axon.

Junior Rebeka Mertena and sophomore Carly Briggs also picked up solo wins against Auburn Tigers. Briggs downed Carolyn Ansari 6-4, 7-6(5) and Mertena picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win over Shir Azran.

The Lady Vols conclude the Music City Scramble on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. ET.
