October 17, 2025 | Cross Country
COLUMBIA, Mo. — Led by another standout performance from freshman Mary Nyaboke Ogwoka, the No. 30 Tennessee women's cross country team placed fourth out of 38 programs in a deep field at the Pre-National Invitational on Friday at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course. The Lady Vols totaled 219 points and finished ahead of No. 3 Florida, No. 23 Boston College and six other SEC foes — Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Texas, Ole Miss and Georgia.
Ogwoka continued her stellar debut season with a fourth-place finish in the women's invitational 6k, clocking 19:27.6 against a field of 346 runners. It marked her second consecutive top-five finish and third time this season pacing the Lady Vols.
UT junior Jaci Sievers turned in a personal-best 6k performance, crossing the line 30th in 20:19.3, while senior Andie-Marie Jones finished 56th in 20:38.7. Summer Schuster (68th, 20:45.5) and Tula Fawbush (74th, 20:50.0) rounded out Tennessee's scoring lineup, with Fawbush recording a lifetime best at the distance.
On the men's side, Tennessee placed 18th out of 32 programs in the invitational 8k with 400 points. Sophomore Ethan Edgeworth once again led the Vols, placing 27th overall with a time of 23:50.2. Redshirt sophomore Hudson Betts (35th, 23:57.5) and true freshman Ty Steorts (52nd, 24:07.3) followed close behind, giving Tennessee three finishers inside the top 55.
Rounding out the Vols' scoring effort were redshirt freshman Gavin Genisio (146th, 25:10.4) and Vol rookie Nelson Mapi Setek (175th, 25:28.7).
