#9 Vols Best #11 Michigan To Head to Dual Meet Challenge Championship

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The #9 Tennessee men's swimming team put on a dominating performance over #11 Michigan, 32-9. The win moves the Vols to the championship in the CSCAA Dual Meet Challenge against #2 Arizona State on Sunday. The #8 Tennessee women's swim team fell in its dual against #7 Michigan, 17-27. The Lady Vols will compete against #18 Arizona State on Sunday in the "Race For Third".
Koby Bujak-Upton put up another impressive performance in the meet, picking up a win in the 500 Free. Bujak-Upton won the race by nearly nine seconds, finishing in a time of 4:16.21 to set the seventh-fastest time in program history. Bujak-Upton also earned a second place finish in the 200 Free, clocking in at 1:32.47.
Nikoli Blackman earned the win in the 200 Free, while improving his third-fastest time in program history to 1:31.80. Blackman also picked up a third place finish in the 100 Free with a time of 42.10. Anthony Laurito finished in first place in the 200 IM, while also moving his way up the top ten list to ninth with a time of 1:44.87.
Ben Bricca showed up with his first win of the season, finishing the 200 Back with a time of 1:40.82. Bricca also made his debut on the top ten list for Tennessee in the event, moving to sixth in program history. Gui Caribe continued his big weekend in the pool, with wins in the 50 and 100 Free yet again. Gui finished the 50 Free in 18.70, while touching the all in the 100 Free with a time of 41.93. Caribe was also a member of the 200 Medley Relay team that won the event and set the tenth-best mark in program history of 1:23.77, joined in the race by Ulises Saravia, Gabe Nunziata, and Pedro Sansone. Nunziata also added a win in the 200 Breast, closing out his evening with a 1:53.12. Martin Espernberger added a win of his own in the 200 Fly, finishing the event in a 1:41.22
On the women's side, Camille Spink did her part to keep the Vols in the match, with two wins in the dual. Her first came in the 50 Free with a time of 21.30, while her second came in the 100 Free at 46.65. Spink also helped the women's 200 Medley Relay team to the tenth-best time in program history. Joined by Jillian Crooks, McKenzie Siroky, and Emily Brown, the group finished the event with a time of 1:35.27.
Emily Brown wasn't done setting top ten times on the evening, moving up to third in program history in the 200 Fly with a 1:53.07 en route to her second win in the event on the day. Emelie Fast earned herself her second win in the 200 Breast on Saturday, checking in with a 2:10.83. Ella Jansen earned herself two second place finishes on the evening. Her first came in the 200 IM, where she finished with a 1:56.05. Her other second place finish in the dual came in the 500 Free, as she clocked a 4:37.33.
Up next, the Vols wil take on Arizona State in the championship of the Dual Meet Challenge at 1 p.m.. The Lady Vols will take on Arizona in the "Race for Third" to end their competition in the Dual Meet Challenge, slated to start at 10 a.m. Both duals will be streamed on SEC Network+ with live results available on Meet Mobile.

- Sophomore Pedro Sansone earned himself two second places against the Wolverines. He finished the 50 Free behind Caribe, just missing out on breaking 19 seconds at 19.01. He also finished in second in the 100 Free, notching a time of 42.06.
- Nick Simons had a second place finish in the 200 Back, as the redshirt junior clocked in at a 1:41.43
