Track Central: Doc Hale Invite / Windy City Invite

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee track & field returns to action this weekend with a split squad, competing Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6-7, at the Doc Hale Invitational in Blacksburg, Virginia, and the Windy City Invitational in Chicago.
Eighteen athletes are set to compete at Virginia Tech, beginning Friday at 4 p.m. with five Vols competing in the men's seeded pole vault. The meet will conclude Saturday at approximately 3 p.m. with three Lady Vols contesting the women's seeded pole vault.

Ten sprinters and hurdlers are entered for competition at the Windy City Invitational. UT's action in Chicago begins with the women's 60-meter hurdles prelims on Friday at 1:15 p.m. and concludes with the women's 60-meter hurdles final on Saturday at 3:05 p.m.
Live results from the Windy City Invitational will be provided by AdkinsTrak Timing Associates, and the full competition schedule can be found at UWBadgers.com. The meet will be streamed online via RunnerSpace.
LAST TIME OUT: Tennessee split competition between the Bob Pollock Invitational in Clemson and the John Thomas Terrier Classic in Boston, posting numerous NCAA top-10 marks, multiple school records and several historic performances. At Clemson, Esther Joseph (51.36) and Javonya Valcourt (51.73) went 1-2 in the women's 400 meters, while Andre Jackson II claimed the men's 400 title in 45.82 seconds. The Vols' pole vault unit made history Saturday as Tennessee became the first program in collegiate history to have five vaulters clear 18 feet in the same season, led by Ismaila Sawaneh's win at 5.66m (18-6.75).
In Boston, the distance squad delivered program-level marks throughout the weekend, highlighted by Nelson Mapi Setek breaking the school record in the mile (3:58.37), along with top-three all-time performances in the men's 5,000 meters from Zouhair Redouane (13:34.75) and Ethan Edgeworth (13:36.14) and a freshman record in the women's mile from Mary Nyaboke Ogwoka (4:38.01).
RANKINGS UPDATE: Tennessee men's track & field was ranked No. 2 in the latest installment of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI), while the Lady Vols were ranked No. 10 in the country.
Additionally, the Vols and Lady Vols have totaled 21 marks that currently rank top 16 on the NCAA Division I national qualifying list this season:
