April 20, 2026 | Baseball
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee kicks off another week of home games with an in-state battle against Lipscomb on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The Vols are 3-0 in midweek games against in-state foes so far this season, having already defeated ETSU (7-1), Tennessee Tech (20-2) and Austin Peay (13-4).
Fans can also listen to the Voice of Tennessee Baseball John Wilkerson and Vince Ferrara call the action on the Vol Network (FM 99.1/AM 990), as well via a free audio stream on UTSports.com, the Tennessee Athletics App and the Varsity App. Â
Overall: UT leads, 14-3
in Knoxville: UT leads, 11-2
in Nashville: UT leads, 2-1
at Neutral Sites: 1-0
Last Meeting: April 22, 2025 (W, 11-1 in 7 inn.)
UT is 5-2 against the Bisons since now head coach Josh Elander joined the staff in 2018.
Tennessee relied heavily on the long ball last weekend against No. 22/25 Ole Miss, hitting nine in the series. Of the Vols' 18 runs scored in the series, 17 came via the long ball, including all 13 runs in Sunday's 13-5 victory when the Big Orange mashed a season-high six homers.
UT's six dingers on Sunday marked its most in an SEC game since also hitting six in a 10-1 victory versus Missouri on April 25, 2024. For the year, the Vols' 66 home runs rank 18th nationally and fifth in the SEC.
Grimmer Goes Off
Redshirt sophomore slugger Blake Grimmer had a record-setting day in Sunday's 13-5 win over the Rebels, tying the single-game program record with three home runs and setting career highs with four hits and six RBIs.
In doing so, Grimmer became the eighth player in program history to go deep three times in a game, and just the fifth UT player to homer three times in an SEC contest, joining Christian Moore (at Kentucky in 2024), Evan Russell (vs. Vanderbilt and LSU in 2021), Todd Helton (vs. Arkansas in 1995) and Rusty Ensor (vs. Vanderbilt in 1981).
Continuing Midweek Success
The Big Orange have been dominant in midweek games since Elander joined the staff in 2018, having compiled an 87-11 record in such contests during that span. Tennessee is a perfect 10-0 in midweeks this season. In those 10 wins, the Vols have outscored their opposition 106-27.
