Kerr's Double-Double Leads #16 Lady Vols to Sweep over USF

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Fifth-year setter Caroline Kerr posted a career-high 10 kills to lead No. 16 Tennessee to a sweep (28-26, 25-19, 25-19) of USF on Sunday afternoon.

Kerr tallied her 26th career double-double with 28 assists and 10 kills in the winning effort. Jalyn Stout joined in the UT attack, with a team-leading 13 kills. The Lady Vols (8-1) finished with 51 kills on .368 hitting, to go along with 45 assists, 37 digs, 10 blocks, and two aces.

Kennedi Rogers put up nine kills in the win and added three blocks. Chelsea Sutton tied her career-high with seven blocks, while also putting up six kills. Raegan Burns led from the back row with nine digs, followed by Kerr with eight and Maggie Dostic with seven. The Lady Vols were able to control the USF (1-8) offense throughout the match, holding them to a .190 hitting percentage and forcing 18 attack errors.

It was a close first set, featuring six ties and three lead changes. A slow start marked the beginning of the match for the Lady Vols, trailing by four points early. Tennessee battled back, tying the match at 21 apiece. Both teams traded points late into the set, but a pair of attack errors by the Bulls would give UT the first set victory. Rogers and Kerr led the offensive effort with five kills each, while Kerr added nine assists. Sutton got the block defense going early with three.

The Big Orange took that momentum into the second set, building an early five point advantage as they cruised to a two set lead. Tennessee assisted 15 of its 16 kills in the second frame, led by the duo of Stout and Jolene Oddo with four. The defense stepped up in the set, totaling 20 digs and three blocks while holding USF to a minuscule .132 hitting percentage.

UT put up its best offensive performance to close out the match. The Big Orange offense had 18 kills on .484 hitting in the third stanza. Stout led the charge with six kills, joined by Sutton who had four kills and another three blocks. All eight of Tennessee's wins have come via a sweep so far this season.
