Tor’e Alford is in her first season at Tennessee, serving as a graduate assistant in a Lady Vol program led by her former college coach, Kim Caldwell.
Alford, who played one season at Glenville State for Caldwell, joins UT after spending the 2025-26 campaign as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the women’s basketball program at Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma. In addition to her experience in the college ranks, Alford coached two seasons of AAU basketball with Team Trae Young and also spent time working with Midwest Hustle Elite.
Alford wrapped up her playing days in 2023-24 and earned a degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla. She started all 27 games for the RiverHawks, averaging 10.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals per contest. She knocked down 31 shots from beyond the arc at a clip of 33.7 percent.
Prior to that, she and Caldwell’s paths crossed when Alford signed with Glenville State. During the 2022-23 campaign, she averaged 5.6 points and 2.1 rebounds and ranked second on the team with 50 three-pointers. She played in 32 games and earned 12 starts as the Pioneers finished 33-3, including 20-2 in the Mountain Empire Conference, en route to a NCAA Division II national semifinal finish in the final season at the school for coach and player.
Alford began her college career at Hutchinson Community College, where she spent three years, including a 2019-20 season that was shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic. She averaged 13.3 points and hit 61 three-pointers in 2021-22, running her career total of treys to 161 and helping lead the Blue Dragons to three national tournament berths. Alford was a three-time Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference honoree, earning honorable mention honors in 2019-20, second-team accolades in 2020-21 and first-team acclaim in 2021-22.
During her high school days, Alford helped lead Derby (Kan.) High School to a 2018 Class 6A state title. She was recognized as one of the most dynamic guards in the Sunflower State during her prep career.
