WTEN Central: Lady Vols Send Split Squads to Texas, Vanderbilt

Knoxville, Tenn. – The Tennessee women's tennis team will send split squads to the Texas and June Stewart Invitationals beginning on Friday, Nov. 1st.

Callie Creath and Tenika McGiffin will head to Austin, Texas to compete in the Texas Invitational.

"I'm excited to get back on the road again with Callie and Tenika," head coach Alison Ojeda said. "They will have a chance to play against some new faces and very tough competition."

Julie Ball, Lyric Bonilla, and Kylie Duckworth are slated to compete in the June Stewart Invitational hosted by Vanderbilt.Â

"We've got three girls here this weekend who will play some good competition in both singles and doubles," assistant coach Jarryd Chaplin said. "I think if I can see overlap between what we've been practicing and the product on the match court, we will have had a successful tournament."

Play will begin at the Texas Invitational will begin at 10 a.m. ET and 11 a.m. ET in Nashville for the June Stewart Invitational.Â
Most recently, the Lady Vols competed in the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals. Individually, Kaitlin Staines went a perfect 6-0 to win the singles main draw and Rebeka Mertena finished second with a 5-1 record in the tournament.
