Vols Win Silver in 200 Medley Relay to Open NCAA Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The Tennessee 200 medley relay opened the 2025 NCAA Championships by taking second place to win silver at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center.

The lineup of Lamar Taylor, Kevin Houseman, Gui Caribe and Jordan Crooks clocked a time of 1:20.50 to earn the program's best finish in the event in 24 years. Taylor opened things up with a 20.74 split in the backstroke leg followed by a 23.04 effort from Houseman in the breaststroke.

Entering the back half of the relay, the Big Orange kicked it into another gear with Caribe on the fly and Crooks anchoring the free. Caribe threw down the second-fastest split in the 50 fly, touching the wall in 19.05. Crooks brought things home with a 17.67 effort–the best in the field–to push the Vols ahead of several other relays.

The performance marked the third year in a row in which the Vols podiumed in the event. Tennessee opens individual competition tomorrow morning with the 50 free and 1-meter diving prelims.
