PREVIEW: #9 Vols Set to Conclude Fall Season at Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational
October 16, 2026 | Men's Golf
The fourth and final tournament of the Fall season awaits for the No. 9 Tennessee men's golf team this weekend at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational.
The 54-hole event will take place over three days, beginning with 18 holes on Saturday, October 17, before concluding with the third and final round on Monday, October 19.
Fallen Oak Golf Course in Saucier, Mississippi, will host the tournament. The Tom Fazio designed course, opened in 2006, sits deep in Mississippi's De Soto National Forest. The par-72 track will play around 7,487 yards for the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational.
Tennessee has had an exceptional start to the 2026-27 season this Fall, claiming the team title in two of three events thus far. After earning a victory at the team's home event, the Visit Knoxville Collegiate, to open the season in September, the Vols added to the tally with a win at the Cullan Brown Collegiate last time out. Tennessee impressed with a 22-stroke victory as the only team to close the tournament under par.
The win marked the 15th victory of the Brennan Webb era and the sixth time in nine seasons under his leadership that the Vols have won multiple tournaments.
On Wednesday afternoon, the first Clippd/Scoreboard national rankings of the season were released. Tennessee is one of six SEC squads ranked in the top 10, coming in at No. 9. Additionally, the Vols have three players ranked within the top 100 of the national player rankings: Rudy Sautron (No. 30), Christian Pardue (No. 43) and Jackson Herrington (No. 84).
While the tournament enters its fourth year of existence, this will mark just the second time Tennessee has competed in the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational. The Vols first appearance came last Fall, as the team finished in sixth place among a strong 14-team field consisting of five opponents ranked in the top 20 of the Clippd/Scoreboard national rankings.
This year's Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational field offers similar strength, featuring six top-20 squads, including No. 1 Arkansas and No. 4 Alabama.
TENNESSEE LINEUP:
Tyler Watts
One of the top freshmen in the nation, Watts did not disappoint in his Tennessee debut at the Cullan Brown Collegiate. The No. 2 ranked golfer in the World Amateur Golf Rankings helped the Vols to a team victory behind a tie for third place individually. After shooting even par through the opening 36 holes, Watts posted a 6-under-par 65 in round three. His efforts earned him SEC Freshman of the Week recognition.
Jackson Herrington
A strong start to the season has seen Herrington post three consecutive top-20 finishes, including two in the top 10. The junior fired three consecutive rounds of par or better at the Cullan Brown Collegiate to tie for eighth place and help the Vols to a second team win in three events. Herrington has a 70.56 scoring average through three tournaments this Fall.
Rudy Sautron
A highly touted transfer from Nebraska, Sautron continued an impressive start to his Tennessee career at the Cullan Brown Collegiate. After consecutive scores over par to open the tournament, Sautron responded with a 4-under-par 67 in round three to close at 1-under-par, tie for 12th place and contribute to a team victory. The Reunion Island native has earned a top-15 finish in all three events for the Vols this Fall.
Bruce Murphy
The lone fifth-year golfer on Tennessee's roster, Murphy returns to the team lineup after a strong performance competing as an individual at the Cullan Brown Collegiate. The Atlanta native tied for eighth place behind a 2-under-par performance, highlighted by a 4-under-par 67 in round two. Murphy now has eight top-10 finishes and 46 rounds of par or better in his collegiate career.
Christian Pardue
Pardue remains in the Tennessee lineup after winning a share of the individual title at the Cullan Brown Collegiate, the first victory of his collegiate career. The junior shined for the Vols with three consecutive rounds in the 60s, including a 4-under-par 67 in round three to come from behind and tie for the individual title at 9-under-par. Pardue earned the first SEC Golfer of the Week honor of his career for the triumph.
Chase Kyes (i)
Kyes will make his second consecutive appearance as an individual this weekend at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational. At the Cullan Brown Collegiate, he tied for 21st place at 1-over-par, fueled by a 2-under-par 69 in round one. It marked the sixth time Kyes has notched a top-25 finish in his short collegiate career thus far.
