#7 Lady Vols to Host Oklahoma and Arkansas
March 05, 2026 | Women's Tennis
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The No. 7 University of Tennessee women's tennis team (7-1, 3-0) is set to continue the 2026 dual slate this weekend on their home court. The Lady Vols first take on the No. 19 Oklahoma Sooners (10-4, 1-2) in a Friday evening matchup before seeing the No. 71 Arkansas Razorbacks (9-4, 0-3) on Sunday afternoon.
Â
"We are so excited about competing at home again in front of Vol Nation," Tennessee head coach Alison Ojeda said. "Oklahoma and Arkansas are both great teams, but with Oklahoma being the first team we play, we are 100% focused on them.Â
Â
"They're an incredibly talented team who are coached by a staff who really value competing at a high level. We're excited for a great match."
Â
Tennessee has posted a flawless 3-0 start to conference play, including a 2-0 mark in ranked matchups, both occurring during last week's road tilts at then-No. 37 Mississippi State and then-No. 28 Alabama. Tennessee defeated the Bulldogs on Thursday with dominant singles showings from freshman Katrina Scott, Leyla Britez Risso, Francesca Mattioli and Vanesa Suarez. The Lady Vols carried that momentum to Tuscaloosa, taking a 4-0 victory via a successful doubles point and singles wins from Audrey Aulia, Suarez, and Britez Risso on Saturday.
Â
Britez Risso improved to 7-0 in singles play to start the 2026 dual season with her two wins, the second of which clinched the match against Alabama – her second clinching point of the season.
Â
Holding a five-match win streak, Tennessee earned the No. 7 spot on ITA's team rankings, its best position on the team list since April 1, 2025 (No. 6).
Â
Scouting Oklahoma
The No. 19 Oklahoma Sooners enter Friday's matchup on a two-match losing skid, following setbacks against No. 13 Auburn in Norman and at No. 46 Florida. The Sooners' four losses have come in its last six contests. Prior to that stretch, Oklahoma was ranked as high as No. 6 in the nation in the first three ranking updates of the year. The Sooners have three ranked singles entries in No. 30 Julia Garcia Ruiz, No. 63 Edda Mamedova and No. 71 Evialina Laskevich. They also have four ranked doubles duos, including the No. 1 pairing in the nation in Roisin Gilheany/Gloriana Nahum.
Â
Scouting Arkansas
The Razorbacks currently sport an 0-3 record in conference play, with each match finishing with a 4-0 result. They most recently picked up a win over Eastern Kentucky in the nightcap of a neutral-site double-header in Auburn, Ala., on Feb. 28. Arkansas currently has one ranked singles player, No. 23 Carolina Gomez Alonso, and one ranked doubles duo, as Gomez Alonso joins Anet Koskel as the No. 22 pairing.
